Mouse Patterns for Trophy Trout
A man should have an EKG before he's allowed to fish a mouse fly in Kamchatka, where it isn't unusual to hook dozens of large rainbows every day on the surface using mice imitations. These creatures are a staple on the trout diet in Russia's Far East. Large Kamchatka trout will chase them and attack again and again, attempting to pull the "mouse" below the surface and drown it before devouring the varmint.
The techniques and flies are identical in Alaska and elsewhere. Slightly less effective, perhaps, but every bit as thrilling.
