I expected WAY more from this jacket, especially at this price point. It is far from breathable as evidenced during a recent moderately strenuous 3-mile winter hike. On a walk around the neighborhood in 35° F breeze less weather, I was cold with this jacket over two synthetic layers, even with gloves and a hat. That's unusual for me with most insulation layers. The jacket also lacks a number of features I would expect, like pit zips, hood closures/adjustments, etc. This is in fact a fairly basic jacket, and does not even compare in build quality to those offered by EMS at half the price. As an outdoors person, I'm disappointed. My expectation of Patagonia products is that they are built for outdoor use first and fashion second, and therefore earn the higher pricing. In this case, I think I paid for the label rather than for the design quality I've always expected from Patagonia. Sorry. Hard to recommend unless you're a label-based fashionista trying to keep up with the Joneses.
